so, my 83 aero50 has been great

and I just bought a 84 Spree for my fiancee so we can go on scooter dates

its not running so hot right now though

the miles are low, about 340 total which is nice

right now it doesn't idel well, I've done a carb cleaning, I do need to get new airfilter and a carb gasket as a previous owner made one out of a paper gasket which is :eyeroll:

Remember that you need the front drive face from a 86 or 87 spree as well as the kick cover, to do the kick start conversion.

I just played with it a bit more, making sure the needle was in the right position, I wish I could get the scoot to run better, it seems to work great in the garage, but push it down off the center stand and it dies, restart and drive and it will die unless at full throttle

You stated there is a paper gasket for carb mount now....suspect vacuum leak at this gasket connection as it should be an O-RING seal, not a flange gasket. You stated condition of runs fine in garage, then not when off stand. This sounds like the result of the vacuum leak. Also, carb cleaning may need repeating to ensure pilot jet is open. Several cleanings often required. FIRST, get the O-RING !!!.....best of luck.... :thumbwink:

Or just turn the isolater/spacer around.

sorry for the confusion, its a paper gasket on the bowl of the carb, which is even worse

the PO said he would mail me a new gasket but I haven't seen it yet so I'll prob buy one along with a new airfilter from honda

is there supposed to be an isolator? my aero 50 has one, the spree doesn't and it seems by the way the airbox mounts that there isn't space for one

It's been a while but pretty sure the Spree uses one. I have a few if needed...

hey if it does indeed take one of those isolators I'd like to pick one up off ya, I might venture to say yes, as the carb mount bolts seem a bit long right now

looking into it, I think the spree does take an isolator

also does anyone have a spree kick start conversion, I think I need one

I replaced the carb gaskets, cleaned the carb again and did the air filter and tires

the scooter runs nicely and worked all morning, untill after stopign for lunch it wouldn't start and killed the battery because of the multiple start atempts
