I just found a ruckus for sale localy and the common thought was " dude! Dio time" I know that the common swap is the gy6 but a nice 2t would be fun! Idealy i would do this swap to have a light and rugged scooter. Is the ruckus lighter than an elite e or spree? Would there be an issue with gas tank placement? Whats your thoughts?

You would need a vacuum nipple located below the reedcage of the af16 motor (the af18 already has this). Also, a fuel pump found in bikes like the jdm dio.

I've seen an af18 motor swap into a ruckus frame, and it is fugly. Totally the wrong proportions for that bike. The Metro would be a better candidate due to similar engine size and wheel size.

The Ruckus is 183lbs, which is way heavier than the spree and elite 50.

I would rather go dio z4 match with dio motor. Subframe is same on metropolitan , but mounting that hold panels different. :bump:

The Dio Z4 is virtually impossible to find here in the U.S. I know of only one in California.

I want to build something that has an industrial look to it. Basically like a Ruckus. I think that I may wait and make my own frame one of these days to prove that I can actually do it. I know that I can find a *-ton of those sun-L scooters around here, so Ill steal the front forks off of one and its vin and build a super light bike with a redic motor in it. Might be a good time to learn to tig and go all aluminum!

Talk about a death trap!

Greetings:

Brad the Cubed has posted his very attractive Ruck-arelli. Uhh, Min-a-Ruckee? Anyway, it's a Ruckus with the engine it deserves. I agree the Ruck frame is a bit portly, but much of the weight of the finished product was the liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine. I'll bet it weighs 20 less with a righteous 'Smoker.

There's a Kymco motor that's an af18 clone but has a 12 inch wheel. That would be better proportions. It's a top mount as well.

The common 2t swap for the ruckus is the zuma motor swap . The reason is that the motor mount location on the block is pretty much the same as the stock ruckus motor so you don't have to weld and make mounting tabs for a motor like a dio and make sure that its straight and enough clearance. Plus there are tons of aftermarket engine parts for the zuma motor.

No, that's an extremely rare anniversary edition live dio zx af35. The seller is an importer of Jdm cars.
