I'm new here -- painting tips?

Great forum . . . really appreciate it.

I had an Aero 50 in the 80s and sold it when I got my first car -- a 1970 VW Beetle Convertible. In college I started to have periodic dreams about my Aero. I still have dreams about riding the thing. It obviously meant something to me. I had an itch I had to scratch, so I finally bought two Sprees on Monday.

One is a red 1985 and the other is a black 1986. Both run well and have around 1,500 (1986) and 2,500 (1985) miles on them. I paid $1,300 for both of them together. I figure it was a pretty good price because there is a very active scooter community where I live (Boise, Idaho).

Although they both run pretty well considering their age, I'm going to take them for inspections. I'm also thinking about cleaning them up and painting them. Any suggestions on painting?

if you are going to do custom paint, I would go with House Of Kolor paints! 8)

I just checked a place the carries House of Kolor. With a spray thing, paint, and compressor rental it looks like it'll cost around $300 each. I called a place that will paint it and they want $450 to $600 each.

Any suggestions on how I can do this cheaper? I've read some posts on this forum and some people have used some kind of Krylon. Does this work and how should I prep the scooters?

thanks,

Rob

I painted my boat last summer with cans of spray paint.
it did pretty well on the fiberglass deck.
I did the usual sanding and priming.
thinking about painting my spree this way too.
I'm sure it's nice to have it done by a pro but I can't justify it for myself.
I'm gonna go with a four tone with some nice seventy streetrod style lines and curves
