Wondering if some of you spree gods out there can shed some knowledge on this matter.

Seen em for ~100 bucks on ebay. From what I have heard it will give you a 66.9cc engine from the 49cc stock. It also sounds like this is just a simple unbolt old cylinder and piston and bolt new kit in. Never done one of these big bore kits but it looks like a decent upgrade for the money. It also sounds like all that needs to be done to the carb is a little re-jetting?

So are these kits really as simple as taking the old cylinder off and removing the piston, then replacing everything you just took off with everything in the kit and re-jetting the carb? Is there anything I am missing?

If you don't mind spending an extra $150 PM evilone and buy his stock af16 motor. It's a great deal and opens you up to great performance. Taz's complete spree kit for $2XX is the best deal if you really want to keep the engine and not hassle with an engine mount fab. But seriously, dude, swap in a dio!

I don't think so. tazland001 here on the forums sells the kits, send him a pm or wait for other replies.

As for the build process. It's as easy as you put it. Unbolt the head, take of the bore, remove one circlip then take off the piston and replace with bigger one, put new circlip in and reassemble with bigger bore and new head and gaskets. (head doesn't have to be new but you will probably have to mill it down for greater compression). Taz's kit comes with all of this. On ebay, he is chopchop123. He has fantastic service and will walk you through the whole process.

I was just looking at his ebay listing and was wondering if that was him.

Thanks for the speedy response guys! And I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. Not sure if I will ever go through with this was just curious as to how the whole process goes!

Anyone here with just this upgrade in there sprees? I image that once you go through with it the modding starts to snowball until you have built yourself an F-16. Does it give you a little more umphhh when going up them hills 8)

I don't personally have this upgrade but by searching the forum you can find some results relatively easily. It will Give you a bit more power and allow you better acceleration and hill climbs. The only spree bbk that I could find when contemplating getting one while rebuilding mine (chose stock bore btw) was the 48mm offered by chopchop123 (tazland001 on here). With the larger displacement you will have to up-jet the carb but Taz provides the correct size. Even with the top upgrades (oversized piston/bore, new carb, and taller gears) the spree, though it will be better, will still have trouble keeping up with a lightly modded af16e engine.

I bought the Taz 44mm kit which comes with great directions, make sure to add oil in tank as per instructions, and break it in slow. The last one i built for a guy, I told him to do all this, and he promptly took off on a 20 mile junket and junked it almost.
