Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I've had my 85 Honda Aero 50 for a little less than a year and think I would like to move on. I have had a ton of issues with it, I just recently had to rewind the stator exciter coil because I lost spark and found the coil to be open. Now that it's fixed and running I think I'm going to sell. I want something bigger (at 6' 190lbs the Aero still felt a little small), more speed and the ability to carry a passanger.

Therefore, I would like opinions on a new scooter. I can't afford a lot but I am looking at the SSR Interceptor or the BMS Patriot or Pathfinder. The scooter will mostly be used in the city and some highway, going back and forth to work (16 miles total) and general round about stuff. Looking around $1,200-$1,450 or so.

I am a little leary on Chinese scooters but have heard good things about SSR and BMS. I was also looking at the CFMoto eCharm but read that SSR and BMS are better and have commonly available parts (GY6 engines?).

I had a genuine buddy 125cc when i was in college and drove it everywhere. If you can find one ofcthose, you will have a very fast and comfortable ride. I am 6ft at 180lbs and it would do 65 all day long.

I've had the same thoughts. Consider the abundant, well-supported, and stone-axe reliable Honda CH150. A nice used one would fit your needs and your budget.

There is a Kymco S200 with 4,500 miles for $1,800 though. I know Kymco is a lot better than the Chinese scooters.

I thought his price was a little steep too, I was going to try talking him down. I was going to sell my Aero 50 tonight but the guy just texted me that his car broke down, grrr! I bascially want a 150 so I could take it on 55MPH roads and I want the ability to take a passenger as well. The max rider weight for my 85 Aero 50 is 180-190 (depending on where you look), I weigh 190!

If a Buddy 125 isn't in your budget (a great little scooter) consider an equally good Yamaha Vino 125. It would be at or a bit more than your top line price but for good looks and excellent reliability it's a hard scooter to beat. I owned one for several years and finally traded it in on a Honda Helix 250 but I still miss its cool retro styling and performance.

Guess what?
I ended up getting a Genuine Buddy 125 this weekend! It is a 2009, has a little under 4,000 miles and is in great condition, got it for $1,300. The only spot is the plastic by the handlebars on the left side, it looks like it got hot from something and warped a little. Also, I cannot get the hazzards to work. I looked up the manual and the hazzard switch is marked as number 6 but the controls explanation only goes to 4, lol. Is there a certain sequence I have to do or does it just not work? Other than that it runs great and has been really fun. I need to get my permit now and license

I drove a buddy for a year when I was in college. I took it everywhere and anywhere. I absolutely loved mine and wished that I still had it. It was the only scooter that I have ever ridden that actually fit a normal person. The storage area is big enough to stuff a full size helmet in, and it would do 70mph on a good day. I loved that thing.

I know now that they have a huge aftermarket for them and you can get all sorts of stuff. Have fun and be safe!
