Upgrading an 83 Aero NH80

Post by ragtop89 »

Anyone have experience putting a 24mm carb and performance intake with new reeds from VT Cycles on here? I want a 21mm, but he doesn't have any in stock. Just curious as to what my Premix would be if I went this route, compred to if I had a 21mm. Aside from that, sounds like a great deal, carb, intake, air filter, pre-jetted, reeds, and a set of rollers included for $135!

Yeah, that's my biggest concern, that's why I was really wanting a 21mm, I PM'd tazland yesterday to see if he has any kits. Haven't heard back yet.

That's because he's busy filling my order! Aha ha ha ha!
No, seriously ragtop, I was really wondering what you are going to do with the old carburetor, intake and airbox set up? Do you want to take an offer on it? If so I would like to know what condition it's in? LMK

Hanging onto it, this won't be my last aero for sure! Going to try and find another one soon. Otherwise it would be yours. :coolcruise:

Little update, just installed my new belt and sliders the other day, degreased variator, removed the back plate, etc. Got up to about 41 - 42 indicated on the dash, didn't have my phone out to get the GPS speed, but that's a huge improvement. I'm pretty pleased with that considering I'm 250+! Definitely going to order my new setup from VT once I hear how Bears goes. Then I may order a new jug and piston from eBay, that I posted in another thread, would like to put the CR-80 piston in this though to be honest.

Question for Bear, or another Aero NH80 owner... What types of exhaust could I put on this thing? What would be the pre-req's for said exhaust? etc, etc

Oh wow, those look great. I would imagine I would have to have the carb and intake setup for that exhaust to work. If not, that would be great. Time to do some searching. :urban:

I do not know what carb they used but some of the engines were 90cc and 100cc, so I suspect a CT intake with a 24 OKO would handle pretty much anything you were going to encounter.

Well, I found some, cost is about $200 from what I've seen for the Doppler. Sheesh, might just stick with doing my Carb and Intake for now from VT later on.
