I'm assuming now, that this is causing my belt to slip up on the variator at high speeds? Would using a rough grit to get the grip back on my variator pulley be a good temporary solution? Or am I screwed..

Variator Pulleys too smooth?
Well, I went for a good ride today, love the back roads out here. Anyway, I noticed by Aero 80 had trouble pushing 37 SOMETIMES. Any other time I can hit 40 for the first burst quite easily. I did remember however, that when I put my new belt on and had the variator off, I might have sanded it smooth to get debris off it thinking that would help...

too smooth? never heard of that.
stretched belt or oil/grease on the variator face could cause it to slip.

Roughing it up will just wear your belt. If the belt is slipping, then your contra is too weak.

Yeah, thinking about it, I don't really think it's slipping then. Dunno why it doesn't want to hit 40 sometimes though, even on flat ground. Going down a hill, it wouldn't really push 40+.
