Looking for a little more speed...

I have 95 and 96 sa50p's all derestricted and up jetted. I am looking for a little more speed without putting on a bore kit. If I get 9.8:1 gears and a kelley vari. will this get me more speed? What should I expect? Also, should I get a new filter or stick with the stock airbox?

Just read your post and I can share this with you from my limited experience.
If you up-jet to just 78 that's fine, no need for "better" air filter, just open up the second air passage on the airbox cover.
My stock scoot has a vt cycles variator and ramp w/stock honda rollers, 9.8:1 secondary gears, stock honda belt, clutch springs 1000 rpm over stock, torque spring 1000 rpm over stock,
NEW stock honda exhaust. I ride it daily and I bet it tops out about 45 mph with a tail wind. If I wanted to get the rpm's up a bit, I could put a better breathing pipe on it and maybe hit 50. Bigger tires will help some too. That's about all I know of without going to a bbk.
I'm sure someone else will be able to give you more. GL :thumbwink:

Thanks for the advice! I think I will fallow your setup and see how it goes. Thanks
