New here and have found this site to be a great resource, I am not new to motorcycles or scooters but this is my first aero/older honda 2 stroke. Figured I would post up my recent project. I bought this 86 aero off of craigslist for $60, it had been sitting for quite awhile with some beat up plastic and a 2.5 rear tire and a dry rotted 2.75 front. I checked the carb first and found the airbox to have a hole drilled on the wrong side and the carb was junk. Patched the hole, put a chinese carb on it, new plug, new tires, and fixed/painted the plastics as best I could in a dessert tan military style. I got the stickers from my supply Sgt.

I also had a question about the ruckus variator mod, I was wondering if you run the stock ruckus weights or the aero weights and if a metropolitan variator would work as well? My wife has an 03 met and some of the parts are cheaper/easier to come by then the ruckus.

How it looked when I got it:

Found a gas mask bag that I had bought a long time ago and thought it'd look perfect on the front end. So I put it on.

Looks great! Aero restores are always my favorites.

What did those round front blinker lenses come from?

Not sure, one was on there when I got it and the other one is an extra stock suzuki intruder one I had laying around

I added a ruckus variator and ran the stock aero weights, looked to be in pretty good shape and now it pulls great up top. Maxes out the speedometer, it goes all the way past the f on the fuel gauge.
