Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Hello everyone! I am new to this sight and just wanted to share my project I have taken on. I bought this 1984 Honda spree locally on craigslist for $100 bucks working. The guy I bought it from and his son decided to paint it after Spiderman... and there paint job wasn't to hot:


It was missing the back left fender when i bought it but thanks to Duke250 (met him from craigslist) I was able to get my hands on a good condition pair of fenders! (Ill have updated pics later)

So the intake was tapped up almost like it was being deprived of air, after removing the tape and cleaning the air filter I just couldnt get it to run anymore . It would start and just die right away. Took the carb apart and found this:



There were just flakes of rust inside the carb (assuming thats what clogged the jet to begin with.


The jet nozzle was also decently clogged up so I bought a soldering tip cleaner and cleaned it right out. Now it starts no problem and stays running. Still need to adjust the carb but its driveable without being extremely leaned out.

Well I noticed electrical tape around the spark plug and this is what I found under :/

So this is the paint stripper I bought and some progress of getting the paint off:

Looking good so far!

It looks like it's coming up a treat! And so far it seems to be an easy fixer upper.

Took most of the plastic panels off to clean the rest of the bike:



For the most part everything is in really good condition!

So my original thought was to repaint this black but after using that paint removal the molded plastic is still mint!

Thanks! I actually picked up another parts spree last night for 75 bucks.. This one actually doesnt work unfortunately but all the body panels and light assemblies are in mint condition so should make for one good complete spree. Also came with a modded pipe lol

Paint removal question.
Most strippers (lol) melt plastic ... is the one you pictured and are using (great job btw) for plastics?
Curious as I have a scoot coming that was painted and I want to possibly try the product you used to bring it back to the original color...

Well I am finding out now that only the Molded red plastic can withstand the stripper I am using. It appears that the head light cover and back fenders are actaually painted over white plastic and it is pulling all the paint off. Might try a plastic safe remover tonight but I have a bad feeling it might not work.
