I found this elite for 500.00 it is whiteand gray. 1988 with 2500 miles. here is a pic of the kick cover, the tranny code is AF05E. Is this variated? Is it worth 500$? And a 2.5 hour drive?

Yes, it is variated. Looks like an Elite LX. Good deal depends on the body and your total fuel cost too.

Ask them to take $50 off the price so you can get a new airbox

Are there many aftermarket parts for this? Is it the same as the aero 50 motor? If so those seem hard to find good parts for..

I did the Ruckus variator on my Aero, a bore kit from Daywot on Ebay, and a Leo Vince pipe, plus a slightly larger rear tire and hit 48mph on a slight down hill with a full tuck. I regularly cruize around at 40mph with no issue. Getting the carb tuned was the most tedious task since small increment jets are hard to source.

Believe it or not, but my stock '87 elite se50 when I had it tuned right and the weather was warm, it would hit 42mph all day long and even hit 45 a couple times, but once the weather was anything but perfect, it was back to 35mph for the rest of the year.
