87 spree drive pulley problems

Howdy spree fans all over,

I recently got a 1987 spree for $150, ran fine but didn't have the drive belt. Picked up a belt off ebay, and it rode fine, then the belt would slip and the bike would have no go at all, but the engine was still running fine. I took apart the case, and the front pulley face (the large one) was on at a strange angle and wasn't seated in the splines. I took it apart, and didn't have the thrust washer between the case and the first inner pulley face. I took the washer off another disassembled spree that was sitting around, and threw it on, and the washer broke after 5 min of riding. I couldn't find a washer that was thin enough to let the outer face seat in the splines, so I bought a 12mm wave washer, heated it and flattened it. I also noticed the place the washer sits inside the inner face had a small notch in it, which I think is breaking the washers. After putting in this new washer, it broke (of course) and the inner pulley face ground into the engine case. Is this recoverable, or should i start looking for a new case?

Another question, does anyone know if that thrust washer that the inner face sits on is spinning, therefore should be lubed? or how does it not get too hot and break. I'll attach some pictures of my predicament.

sorry if the files are huge i haven't posted pics online, not sure what a good size is

Anyone (which is just about everyone else on here) know more about the Spree that can help? I just didn't want this to be overlooked and forgotten. Thanks!
