1984 Aero 125

Post by c3maddox »

I finally got this off a friend that was storing it in my garage for around 3 years. It starts and runs (not great yet) and only needs a few cosmitic parts (Red right side cover, left front turn signal lense). I have read what I can on this and downloaded the service manual. It does have a noise that may be the brakes or a bearing not sure yet. I hope to get the plastics off and clean the underside this weekend.

I plan to:
Replace the Spark Plug
Clean or Replace the Air Filter
Replace Fuel Filter
Clean oil screen
Replace all fuel lines

Questions:
Is any 2 stroke or to use the previous owner was using a synstetic?
Are the fuel line and oil line the same size? I want to only remove one at a time to make sure I don't get them mixed up
Any other general stuff I should do?
What Spark plug is best?

Thanks in advance for your help. I do have another scooter, it's a 1999 Yamaha Zuma, picture below. I did a few mods to it 70cc kit and body items.

Is any 2 stroke or to use the previous owner was using a synstetic? I recommend using a manufacturer's oil. Not necessarily Honda's but Yamahahahaha or Suzuki, etc. Use a "2 stroke AIR COOLED INJECTION oil", not premix oil.

Any other general stuff I should do? Check the belt width against the spec in the service manual. Remove the variator, clean the grease out of it and check the rollers for flat spots. Replace if flat spotted. Reassemble with NO grease.
What Spark plug is best? Whatever is recommended in the service manual, BPR6HS
