You can use a steering wheel puller and some spare bolts.Ben L. wrote:Hello, i searched wiki but it wasnt very clear. I split the case on my 87 se50p. How do i remove the crank? (hit with a hammer???) I need to clean debris out of the crankcase.

Thank you, that side is off. I need to remove the transmission side so the crankshaft is completely removed.

Your bearings are stuck to the crank You will need a separator tool.

The steering wheel puller can pop the crank out of either side.
The separator tool will be the next tool the op will need.

Re: Need help! Crank removal
Usualy cranks come out with the bearings still on them. You need the bearing puller to take off the old bearings so the crank can be re used. The people who arent planning on using the stock crank dont really need the toolevilone wrote:Rhet...how does that get get the crank out of case?

Thanks everybody, my steering wheel pullers doesn't look like it will do the job on the tranny side so I might have to modify it. Thanks for the bearing separator tool info as well, that would be my next question.

get a new crank. bearing and seals.
Re: Need help! Crank removal
Thanks everyone for the help. I just removed the crank completely! I had to make some brackets to get the steering wheel puller to mount the tranny cover. Next on my list is purchasing a bearing remover tool.
