hey guys,

i just bought a 1985 spree from my friend for nothing. it has been sitting for 1-2 years when he has had it, and 5 years outside when the guy before him owned it. im charging the battery as we speak and hoping it isnt bad yet. i need to know how to start the engine though. what is the procedures to start it? like do i have to hold the throttler and put the e-brake on as well.

thanks guys. this means a lot!

If it mattered I would have specified. The rear brake does have a lock on it, but it is turning on the brake light that matters. The light circuit supplies power to the starter relay. The start button supplies the ground.

Greetings:

From Honda-san's 7-years' Idle Owner's Manual:
STARTING PROCEDURE:
1. Abandon hope of charging battery.
2. Clean carby-san.
3. Jack-hammer crystallized "fuel" from tank.
4. Replace fuel/vac lines.
5. Replace gooey mess with new air filter.
6. Repeat Step 2.
7. Clean out nest of Rodents from Muffler.
8. Install new Honda battery.
9. Repeat Step 2.
10. Remove spark plug.
11. Drizzle 10cc 2-stroke oil in plug hole.
12. Might as well install new spark plug.
13. Clean Spreeder-nest from Engine Stop Switch.
14. Apply brake.
15. Depress Start switch.
16. Curse foully.
17. Remember disconnected plug wire.
18. Repeat Step 2.
