Keli vs polini variator
I have a 2001 elite 72 cc contessa ,v8 pipe ,red clutch spring ,21mm carb and intake.I currently have a Keli variator .The rollers are chopping up they look like someone took a cheese grater to them.Should I change my variator to a polini .Will I notice a difference.

You should probably file down the edges on the ramp plate so they arent so sharp

Re: Keli vs polini variator
Can you show me a picture of a filed edge. Can the choppy wear on the rollers cause a rattle

Re: Keli vs polini variator
Not right this minute, the edges i am talking about on the ramp plate are where the rollers sit. As they extend all the way out the sharp edges can damage them

Re: Keli vs polini variator
Greetings:
The value-priced Keli is a bargain, but perhaps not as skilfully crafted as the Polini that costs more than twice as much. Yes, you'll probably notice a difference with the Polini but it isn't twice as good.
Chopped-up rollers sure can rattle, and worse. Broken ramp plates, anyone?
Grinding down the sharp edge of the ramp plate was excellent advice. This seems to extend roller life and health considerably. Just look at the assembly, you'll know where to "round off". Remember this is the steel plate behind the aluminum vario casting. Do not monkey around carving up the aluminum casting itself.
