Honda spree locking up

Post by Bspree »

Hello, I have a 86 Honda spree, I jut put a brand new big bore kit on it around 70cc , anyway I got it running and starting perfect, then one day I go to start it and it locks up , so I turn the flywheel win my hand and it turns a little bit and then gets harder and harder to turn until it just stops, so I took the top end off and that was mint so it has to be the bottom end, so does anyone know what it could be, I was about to buy new bottom end bearings but I'm not sure???

So the crank is difficult to turn even with the jug off?

if the conrod can swing back an forth easily....then the only other thing it could be is case bearings or you oil pump is frozen up.

Does the crank still get harder to turn before stopping with the head off? If not, increasing resistance is explained by cylinder compression and the stopping could be debris in the bottom end, like an old piston ring binding the crank. Was the old top end fully intact when you removed it?

Well I purchased it not running And it came with a bore kit so that was installed and it ran great but then this happened, win he head off it still does this , so Im going to tear it aprt when I get the new gaskets and bearing, when it's apart I will be able to see. I had gotten two and they came with the original topends, one was Perfect and the other was scored up a bit so there's a possibility of a ring on the bottom..

if it still binds with the jug off and somone mentioned the oil pump could be seized, then pull the oil pump off and recheck. If you suspect somthing in the crank case that is not supposed to be there couldnt you just look in with the jug off with a flash light? Id hate to see you have to split the cases if you diddnt have to.
