Honda Spree Problem

Post by Hawaiian10n »

Hi there,
I have a 1986 Honda Spree that recently stated giving me problems. I am able to start my moped and pull on the accelarator, when i do that the moped revs really loud but only moves vary slowly. A moped mechanic suggested i look at the Drive belt to see if it was woren. I have done so and it looks as if it is brandnew, what else could be a problem?

This is normal for the honda spree.

Perhaps the clutch is slipping?

The same thing happened to me but i had a very unusual problem. Theres two plates that the belt ride between on the clutch, The far one broke off the clutch assembly and was spinning free while the other one was still connected to the clutch. So the belt only had friction on one of the plates, so it was very slow, but revved high. Just take the cover off the drivecase and wiggle both plates to see if there is an unusual amount of play in them. Its unusual, but it happens.
