Tues, new question... Tires are shot OEM size of tires Front - 80/80/16 Rear 100/80/16...
Research on Kymco forums points me to the brand Heidenbrau K63 (and the front size is hard to find tubeless)
Spoke to national importer who services the US sellers and the rear tire is backordered until the 22nd.
Importer used to service scoots including the People 50, he recommended to try the K66 a more aggressive tread but more importantly only available in 90/80/16 (front) 110/70/16 (rear)...
Yes, he supposedly installed these sets on People 50s...but I am afraid of loosing power, etc...

So is this variation normally an issue?

9/7/12 Upholstery question - (NEVER MIND, FOUND A $45 USED ALMOST PERFECT SEAT)
I should have this running today ...
Now to get serious about making it a lil more pretty..
Most likely taking off the buddy seat and moving up the cargo rack to save covering the buddy seat or rebuying one.
From a number of calls it appears to just reupholster the main seat is at best $100.
A new seat is either $44 or 65 (dealer is rechecking) BUT AT LEAST 2 WEEKS (issue with no room in the garage)...
Local fabric store has a nice brown vinyl for about $10 a yard....
While I have never attempted this...I'm rather "crafty" and have an electric stapler.
No sewing machine or knowledge of how to cut/sew for original seams.
So my question is, the foam is 98% intact, so what do you think it will look like if I attempt to cover the seat myself with a simple, cut, stretch and staple?
Please be brutally honest... if it will most likely look like crap, I want to know!



I keep finding these and then selling them (lol I'm just too short for this scoot!) but I love the People tire size, brakes and stock speed...

Needs Left/Right brake levers (bent and supposedly if I straighten, they will break for sure...but if you have any ideas/tricks to try, I'm game and have nothing to loose...)

Seems like pulling the levers straight is almost sure to break them, so use them as they are. If you can't stand it you could try getting them hot (don't melt them) and gently pulling them straight, maybe with a pipe over the end. I still think you'll break them.

Right on! 75.00 is a great deal even for some forks with disc brakes to mod to another scooter.

kymcoforums.com is the best place for the people. You can use the honda brake lever for the rear, front you gotta find a bike that uses a front master.

I work on these all the time! I should say "service;" -kymcos do not break down... TOP quality scooter, and a FAST scooter in stock form! These sold for over 1800$, if I remember correctly.

re: upholstery question. a do-it-yourself job when done right looks decent enough. Pay particular attention to how the seat looks when stretching your replacement fabric/ vinyl/ leather. You may have to add additional padding to make it look or work better.

When stapling the curvature of the seat makes it a wee bit difficult/ challenging but just be patient, take your time and be sure to keep that replacement fabric stretched.

I may take a shot at redoing the Buddy seat, (but now in black)... as I have the brackets for with or without now.
