questions on a highly reliable performance set up.

I have an 87 elite in need of a top end. I would order stock honda parts but they seem to be as much or more expensive than aftermarket. Red Eft looks to have a good deal on a Malossi kit and I think I'll go with that. Will that kit perform with stock exhaust at least as good as stock bore? For this scooter I am not worried about tuning it to the maximum performance. Seems like this should work. Tell me if I am wrong.

let me add to this. It might see long periods of full throttle. After break in of course.

Greetings:
Both Italian brands - Malossi and Polini - seem to stand up at least as well as Honda-san's own in terms of durability. Except for needing to address the stock carb's limitations - sometimes as simple as a larger Main jet and moving the slide needle a notch richer - it should perform at least as well as stock with the stock exhaust.

Thanks! Looks like he even includes a new main jet. I assume its a larger one. looks like the quickest way to get it up and running. hunting these old parts or used engines is not getting any easier.

The jet that comes with that big bore kit may, or may not be correct for your motor.
You may want to research the subject more before just relying on what comes with the kit.
There are variables to consider with each set up.
Good luck with the build.

Long periods of 40mph (stock WOT speed) are not a problem with that bore but WOT with that bore will rev higher and that will cause quicker wear. The 87 already has an air happy front end, this bore will make it very happy. You may want to play with belt sizes for a little gearing change (you can afford giving up some bottom end with that setup).
