Hello all. I just picked up a 1986 red Honda Spree with 5700 miles but hasnt been on the road since 90 according to the registration. Bought it off a co-worker that asked if I could fix it but instead I just bought it for myself for 125$. Anyway it didn't run they gave it to some guy who said he could get it to run. He replaced a bunch of parts and still didn't get it to run. New rings, rebuilt carb, and a some other junk that the people I bought it off couldn't remember. She said she had about 125$ into it so far.

So I got it home today and started working on getting it running. Drained the gas and put new in. Filled up the oil tank. Replaced fuel line and filter. And replaced the vac line to the petcook. I played with the adjustments on the carb. I can get it to start if I turn them all in but if ya give it throttle then it will die. If I turn them out while it is running ya can give it gas and it will still run but it still dies if ya give it too much. Then it wont refire.

The compression checks out and Ive got 3 NGK plugs that it seems like it keeps oil fouling them out it appears.

I wasn't the one who put it together so theres something not there. On the bottom of the carb on the backside toward the front there looks to be a vac fitting. Right now I only have 2 lines ran both going to the petcock for fuel and vacuum. Is there any other lines that go somewhere. I can get pictures if needed.

What do I need to do?

Ok I figured out the issue of why it wouldnt run. The exhaust was clogged. Got it cleaned out and now it starts right up and sounds good.

Now a new issue. It doesn't want to stay running when under a load it goes for a few seconds and then just shuts off.

I forgot to put the cover back on the air box so thats why it way dieing. Now its running pretty good. Just carb tunning left. It kind of only starts up if the idle is turned up pretty high and the rear tire is spining pretty good when on the stand. After ya getting it started ya can turn the idle down and it runs good but then it wont restart easy. The rear brake isnt hooked up so maybe thats why its spinning fast?

Its driving good though.

I cleaned the exhaust out with compressed air and carb cleaner. It seems to be clear. I can blow through it by mouth.
