Need for me speed please

Ok so I got my 85 Honda Spree running and registered. I'm about 270lbs and I got it going about 25-27mph on the flat and about 30 on a slight down hill according to the speedo on the scooter. What can I do to get a little more speed out of it without spending lots of money. I'd really just like it to do 30mph on flat

get ahold of tazland001 here or on ebay chop chop*123 and get a set of his gears, plus he has big bore kits and probably now an intake and carb for the spree. change the rear tire to a 2.75X10. or if it will fit 80/90/10.

Just changing the gears how much of an increase can be expected? Will the stock engine be able to keep the low end ok?

no. Not enought power you really need all 3 upgrade (carb/intake,bbk, and gears) for you to see a real big difference. If you are on a budget then go with the ax-24 belt and carbon fiber reeds and some taller tires and you will see a few more mph outta your top end.

Uhh, find a steeper hill?
Ah, Ha-ha, I keed, I KEED you!
Abreen gives good advice. You can't bolt up taller gears, fatter tires, and increased belt ratio for higher top speed without increasing power. The Single-Speed Spree forces a compromise between speed on top and take-off down low, but adding power will help overcome the taller "gearing" resulting from those mods.
It is not clear how Carbon reeds will improve top end, but they might help the low end. Mix-and-Matching the piston/head combinations to increase compression has been reported to help more. Clearly increasing displacement with a big-bore kit will give the biggest power increase, but it does incur the need at least to modify the stock carb's jetting, and is not without some reliability pitfalls.

the best way is to sell the spree and get a elite or do a motor swap ... spree are not meant for a bigger guys ..
this time of year theres are fue more elites on craigslist and some are in running shap and some need some work... i have a spree body and a elite motor and there a world of differents in pick up and top speed ...

Given the "load" it will haul no mod to the engine will do. Only an engine swap will give you the power you desire.

i weigh around 245 and and my spree did 40+ with bbk gears and carb not sure if 30 lbs more would hurt but ya never know.

40mph aint that fast and your take off is still AR$E without a variater.
do a engine swap af16 its faster than abreens modded spree stock then add a bbk and bobs your uncle

For a spree its fast (and that was before i had the noiseguy pipe installed and before a pulley mod) and my take off is smooth and quick because i used a 19mm carb instead of some huge carb .

your take off is slow and will always be slow compaired to any se50 stock or sa50 stock stop wasteing time on that spree motor "dude swap in a dio " is the way to go

Thats one persons opinion some argue taking a slow engine and making it fast takes more skill and patience then taking an already fast engine faster. Its all in what you want to do..
