elite s 90cc bbk running lean
just put a 90cc bbk in from ebay piston, rings, head on my 2000 elite s stock carb moved the needle set to bottom setting for richer midrange and installed a 100 main jet, removed the variator backing plate, and chopped the end off the stock exhaust so it could breath better till i get a pipe. scooters running about 38mph WOT
still scared its running lean plug chops show an off white not supper lean but enough to scare me a little is the anything else i can do to the stock carb?? or do i need to go bigger? if i go bigger id like to get a carb reeds and manifold to match any suggestions, nad id like to keep the oil pump do the aftermarket carbs have a port to attatch the oil line or can i tap one into the intake manifold? thanks

Greetings:
A 100 is pretty small for any big-bore. Is this a 50mm? If so and stock crank it's 82ccs, not 90 like the manufacturer claims. In any case I believe you'd need at least a 105 if not 110 to feed the Fires. If you yanked off the stock airbox, consider reinstalling it with a properly-oiled filter element or risk the Dreaded Off-Throttle Leans due to tiny Pilot circuit. The effect of chopping off the muffler tip is almost certain to DEcrease performance as you lose ANY chance at a reflected pressure wave.
Nobody manufactures proper Stock jets bigger than Daytona's 105. If you insist on running that setup - and YES I believe it is in peril of a seize - I recommend welding that muffler end back on. Maybe open up the outlet a bit bigger if you must. Next, Harbor Freight has a set of handy Indexing Drill Bits in a black metal box. (the set in the link is different from the one I got 3 years ago...) Get a set along with a Digital Caliper also available at HF. Find the bit that measures 1.1mm and drill your old stock jet to install in the carb.
You'll surely get better performance than you've gotten with a new carb, intake, and a proper exhaust, but at least your bore won't be at risk with bigger Main in the stocker and a functional stock exhaust. Plus you'll be at least 77.3% less obnoxious to the neighbors.

Greetings:
Did you click the new carb link in my last post?
Run a 48/128 or 130 and jet down until the plug is golden-brown.

Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
Thanks wheelman is that 26mm oko the best way to go with my 82cc? You cant run the oil pump then correct? Will the stock throttle cable work with this carb? And are jets easy to come by? Please let me know because im trying to order parts thismorning thanks
Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
I don't have a source in the lower 48 for this cable, but I have purchased one from a reliable seller everyone here knows.
Patrick, aka "Daywot", will sell one separately from this kit, and get it to you pretty quickly.
Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OKO-28mm-CARBUR ... 0662590619
Read the info below the ad. Good luck!

Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
If this is a 50mm jug, and all else being stock, you can get by nicely with a 90 jet. But I'd also check the exhaust port to make sure you're not strangling your output. The stock pipe is a 26mm at the head, but 50mm BBK jugs usually have a 28mm outlet. And, like others said, it won't run worth a * without air filter and muffler. With no other mods, this donkey will accelerate way better, but top speed (about 40mph) won't change without gears.Wheelman-111 wrote:Greetings:

Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
A 90 jet cannot produce enough fuel and oil to keep it going, no way, no how. for anything over 72 cc you HAVE to run an aftermarket carb or you will seize it. The pilot for the stock carb is not efficient enough by any means.
If youre going to leave the stock muffler I would cut the tip off, make the hole larger and weld a 3-6 inch piece of piping onto the end, like wheels said you need the reflected pulse.

The stock muffler should be left alone.

Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
Hes already cut it, best thing to do is put a better tip on it, not leave it as it is. I think its great advice given the situation.
Re: elite s 90cc bbk running lean
Wrong! You can run a bore that size with a stock intake and exhaust setup as long as the stock airbox is being used. The main jet size will be around a 88 or 90.LoveMyHonda wrote:A 90 jet cannot produce enough fuel and oil to keep it going, no way, no how. for anything over 72 cc you HAVE to run an aftermarket carb or you will seize it. Did anyone bother to ask to see if his stock exhaust is derestricted? If the header pipe still has the washer still in there, that would be the reason why its running slow
