Four Stroking, I Think

My spree will go about 25 mph. When it gets to that speed, the engine stops sounding high pitched and makes a low pitched sound. The speed stays close to the same. While I am going, the bike occasionally has surges where it tries to accelerate, but starts making the lower sound again. Can anybody tell me if this is actually four-stroking and how to fix this.

sounds like the carb needs to be adjusted...? i have never heard of a problem called four stroking though, there are no valves, so your spree could never "four stroke"

"Four stroking" is 2-stroke parlence for a miss while running. Engine shakes and misses every other stroke, making little power. Indicates a rich running condition. Mine does this if I don't let it warm up first b/f taking off.

Check your main jet size, needle jet setting per manual, and for a clogged air filter.

Does this mean my air/fuel screw is set wrong? Also, I usually don't let mine warm up b/c it doesn't stay running b/c the clutch stays locked up. This could cause the problem to happen somebody said, but wouldn't the problem go away after it warms up (still does it after riding 10 miles)

before i fixed my bystarter (not completely seated) the idle on my spree sounded like it was a four stroke, but now that it's fixed it sounds smooth & two-strokey...

Why on earth is your clutch staying locked up?

Cause of this could be bystarter not working/improperly installed, oversize main jet, missing needle jet, or hacked-up intake.

my old spree would start running uncontrolibly. i would turn of the kill swich and tak out the key and it would keep running i would take off the spark plug boot and it stayed running, but you could only keep going faster never slower or it will die.
