Hi there,

I would like to know what restrictions are on my scooter. It is an Elite SA50 1998. I only know there is one in the variator.

If I derestrict my variator or anything else, am i gonna get the same MPG?

Thanks

Greetings:

The "Elite SR" is the unrestricted version, model SA50
The "Elite S" is the one with restrictions, model SA50P.

If yours is the former, no restrictions beyond modest primary output as delivered.
If the latter, the variator, pipe, oil pump, and carb jetting all need to be addressed to "convert" to SR-spec.

ok, mine is an Elite SR, so only the variator is restricted, right?

Greetings:

Incorrect. The SR has no "artificial" restrictions. Confirm by examining the ramp plate that lives on the back side of the variator. Someone will post a pic of the difference between the S and SR model ramp plates.

I saw a washer on my variator, but maybe it doesn't restrict anything. However, I hit only 30 mph top speed, and about 35 mph going down the hills.
