Hey guys, I have had my little spree for a while now. The scooter with me on it tops out at 25mph. I weigh 190. Is this normal?

I think this is the first posting involving a spree that you haven't given the not wanted advice "Swap in a dio!". Props

something is not flowing right for sure, make sure its not leaned out from a bad airfilter or leaking airbox, and also what swimming free said check all that big time. also how old is the drive belt I bet its worn too narrow, that will rob 4mph easy enough. Add in a gunked pipe, some carbon build-up a , a gacked airfilter and a narrow drive belt you might have a slow spree.

i decarbonized the cylinder head and exhaust like 200 miles ago. new air filter, compression is good. how do i know if i half to replace the drive belt?

pull the side cover and measure the width of the belt, as swimmingfree said the manual will give the info. an easy and somtimes cheaper replacement is the ax-24 1/2 wide belt. it can get you a little more top speed over the stock belt. I have one on my 84 spree gave me 4mph from 28mph to 32mph

Greetings:
Paul7, I must respectfully disagree. There is virtue, learning and FUN in making the humble Spree go as fast as possible, just the same as for the AF05 and AF16 engines. If an NQ05 block is what you happen to have, why the heck NOT do what you can to improve its performance? So you'll never (?) make it as fast as a Dio? So WHAT?! It's not about Logic. If it were, how logical is it to spend $1500 modding an Elite when any self-respecting used Ninja 500 will go faster, farther, more reliably and using less fuel for less money?
So LME: Mod the living snot outta that Spree if you can afford to. Taz's Big-Bore, Gears, porting, pulley mod and belt, the way-cool new LHM side-bleed pipe, manifold mods and carb swap - all of it. Post lots of pics and let us know the results so we can all learn what's Possible.

you said Wheelman.

Although it can be a cool Idea to swap a dio motor into a Spree, Sometimes we like to mod what we have in front of us. For me I happen to like the way the spree single speed non variated setup rides same goes for my express, variators have their place and are great but nothing beats the seat of your pants feel of a single speed spree or express modded all to hec blasting around like a scalded witch
