85 Aero mods.

I have installed the VT cycles 65cc Taiwanese BBK and I am on my second tank of fuel. I plan to run about 3 tanks through before full test mode. That should be sufficient for break in right?
After various combinations of jet and clutch spring it turns out that my Aero likes the stock jet and a 1K spring best. It has plenty of punch off the line and has more power than before. In fact it will pull the front wheel and I am a big guy (240). I havenÔÇÖt done a top speed yet. But it wants to go past 30 real bad. I am running an ounce of mix per tank of fuel along with the stock oil pump. I also have a ruckus vari.
Next thing is a new belt and 6.5 weights.
I have an 87 parts bike. Is that the one with the good gearing?

Depends what model. Count the rotation of the clutch bell to 1 wheel rotation. That will tell you what ratio is in that motor.

some of them have 10/1 and other have 11/1 you have to ether spin the wheel and count turn on the cluch or open it up and count the teeth .. not sure what the aero has to start with...

it's bare motor so I will have to open it up and count. Hor many teeth per each gear? and what does that mean in ratio?

Greetings:
From Failing Wheel-Memory:
Stock Aero gears were 12:34 - 12:47 = 11.09722:1 Final Drive
The '87 Elite S had a special 13-tooth clutch gear #1 and uses a DIFFERENT 34-tooth #2 gear. Do NOT attempt to press on the 13-tooth using the regular Aero 34 as the teeth don't play nice together. Also, some S models reportedly came with the 10:1 setup and some with 11.097s like the Aero. Honda-san must've run out of the 10 sets at some point in production.

After a few evening rides I have decided that I am quite happy with the performance so far. No need to change the gears.

Greetings:
Pismobear, you would be wise to heed the Mad Dog's Learned Counsel. He has ancient, "Old School" knowledge, and was modding Aeros before the time of the Hittites, on the banks of the Tigris River. Unfortunately this was also before the time of the Cellphone, and stone tablet engravings chronicling his Infinite and Infallible Wisdom were broken. Alas, all record of his Divine Aerophilic transmogrifications were lost to the mists of History.
His last post was particularly useful. If only we had the insight to decode the Wisdom hidden within.
Sinceriously, Aeros are as durable as one of The Dog's stone mallets. It won't blow up for a loong time. Sometimes Stock is just fine.

Thanks Wheelman, I feel prety confident that the Aero will do just fine with the moderate mods that I have done. I am selling as soon as I am "broke in" anyway. I love it but I got to turn it to move to the next project. I am still new enough that I need to make the money before I can build a stable.
Ya know?
