Intake manifold gasket

Post by Mjh787s »

I am going to pull my intake manifold off of the case to install the new reeds that came with my Malossi BBK, can I use RTV or similar silicone gasket maker to re-install the intake manifold?

I thought I read on here that it would leak, but cant seem to find the post. Is there a cheap place to buy this gasket if it is needed?

When i went to my local honda dealer i tried to order the intake manifold gasket and they told me that they no longer can get them. so i was just going to buy some gasket material and make my own since it is a pretty basic looking design but that doesn't always translate into being an easy task. just an idea tho hope it helps

Greetings:

This is one place where goo can be used in lieu of the proper gasket. Honda-san could still get them a couple years ago, maybe still can? Call in Part Number 17111-GN2-307 to see? You'll need 2, and they're $2.53 each. If you know the Fiche, part numbers are easy to find. The Dealership PartsDude likes it when I read him numbers.

Spree intake gaskets are no longer available, I got a couple cheap on eBay and then traced them on gasket material. You could probably cut them really easy for the scooter you need your gaskets for. If you are care full removing the intake tube and the gasket stays intact somewhat you can trace it. I take the intake tube flange and clean it super clean and then smear a little grease on it and press it on the gasket paper firmly and then pick it straight up and then you have a good ideas where to cut. I sometimes just trim the gasket with a bit on my dremel when its complete to get the final fit.

I always copy my new gaskets now, so I always have templates to trace and then when I need a gasket I just cut one:-)
