NQ50 Spree Engine Build

I have a spare nq50 spree engine that has been sitting in my back yard for awhile. So I decided to do a rebuild and some porting too. I'm not trying to blow a lot of money on it, so I'm just going to use the resources I have available and stick with the stock bore for now. This is not a how to or guide, I'm just learning so a stock spree engine will be good practice.

It has the smaller aluminum inner pulley so I'm assuming it's a 84-85.

Greetings:

King, it seems you're not interested in Sprees, and that's fine. Unless you have something constructive to post, I am asking you nicely this one time to stay out of threads by people who are.
It looks like its pulley has the kickstarter teeth, so '86 or '87.

Wheel man what you talking about i love sprees they are the best. In fact the only bike i have is a spree. I just hate spree motors there is no point in wasting time or money on them. There are much better engines to restore or hop up. Even the afo5 from the se50 is a better engine option.

hay Tyler VR
when you brake it down if the piston is dish put a new one in that dome it will raise your compression up tazland001 sell them ... and the read block ( i think ) from a 86 or 87 spree is bigger for better flow (mopedmark my be able to help you out ).. a 3in tire will fit as will but you may need to grind the case a little to get it in..

I stand corrected, you like Sprees. I also agree you haven't attacked the person, only expressed your opinion. However "throw it in the trash..." is hardly constructive. The Spree engine offers many attributes, good and bad. One good one is availability and affordability. OK that's TWO good ones. It's a good engine to practice porting on before trashing an expensive one. Also I for one would like to see just how much performance someone can extract from one. The exercise is not "wasting time". By your reasoning, there's also no point modifying an AF16 or anything shy of a Hyabusa, simply because something else may be faster.

TylerVR I hope you mod the livin' snot outta that Spree. Some have reported 40+MPH from their Breathed-On Sprees. Maybe you be the first to crack 50?

^^^ well said bud .. Btw our hawiian friend has a modded b series in his 4 door integra ( profile avatar)(which is a totally junk and obsolete motor compared to the mighty k series) I think he is taking his k series blues out on lowly afo5 owners.
