What to be wary of?

Thanks to everyone who has helped me with my build (I have a 85 Honda Vision) Get that in now as I always forget. I split the case and replaced the bearings and the seals. Had the crank checked for true and put it back in using a puller rather than any hammering. I bolted it up and then added a Malossi BBK including the Malosi head. I have put on a LV3 pipe and a Malossi Vari with 1.5k clutch springs and centre spring. The carb is standard as is the airbox. I am just about to start it all up so my questions are

1. Is the carb and air box ok with the other set up? I dont have the sealing gasket on the air box?
2. I am getting a Tech Trail for it to help with set up and heat cycling. Could some one give me a basic guide to heat cycling?
3. Other than heat cycling and breaking it in properley is there any thing else I need to look out for.

There are many ways of getting it broke in. It seems the norm for the scooter guys to run it easy for 40-50 miles once you get af ratio right. In the moped world its a good idea to let off when the head temp approaches 400. I assume you will want to keep it much lower than this while breaking it in.

another englishman :D ive got a 85 vision too, whered ya get the mallosi parts and the pipe ? cant find parts for these things anywhere.

Are you in Walsall? I used to work there at Gamestation many moons ago. I was all over the midlands at one point working for Gamestation and a company called Be Wise. That one may be before your time though lol.

yer im in walsall, gamestations closed now, shame was about the only decent game shop in walsall, i have to go to bloxwich to get my games now, theres two of us from walsall on here, theres me and redvisionmonster who im sure will post on this thread pretty soon now lol.

my ears are burning. were possibly the only people in walsall with visions, there are a few knockin around as spares bikes but not alot left on the road :( finally can get me hands on a decent exhaust :smile: thanksyous very muchly for the links :smile:

No Probs chaps. The more of us that have em tuned the more info we can share. Some of he Americans on this site are very very knowledgeable indeed and have advised me no end. Its my first scoot and I have made mistakes already but hey ho. just waiting fo me tech trail and I will fire it up. Fingers crossed. Always a good crack in Walsall, good set of folk. :thumbwink:

the guys on here have helped me alot, been on a few forums but this ones possibly the best, this scoots my 2nd scooter but have had loads of 50cc and 125cc geared bikes, prefer the visions though. if it wasnt for this site, my scooter would probably be another one of the parts bikes out there, my 85 looks like crap but runs mint. if your ever in walsall with the scoot pm me and we can go for a ride :) btw get some pictures of that scooter up please :)

you kept the original cylinder and piston ? i would keep it because if you screw up your piston and cylinder that you have on there now you can just put your original back on while your waiting for another one to come, but then again i ALWAYS keep all the original parts i have when i mod scoots because if you sell it later on it will be worth a bit more with those parts should the new owner want them. in regards to running it in, ive always used the hard work in approach, ride it hard. but alot of people prefeer the softly softly approach, all down to personal choice. always good to idle it on centrestand for a bit though.

I will get some pics on asap. Its in 2 halves at the moment but its nearing completion. I have tried to change as many parts as possible and I have re painted everything I could. Hopefully it will fire straight up and go well but you never know. I am more accustomed to modding cars but fingers crossed....

i know what youre sayin about the cars, been workin on them since i was a little kid and own a few, now a mechanics student, know my cars better than my scooters/bikes lol. still fun to work on these little engines. check all the stuff 3 times before you fire it up for the first time as a wise man once told me lol :)
