Dirt / AERO 50

I got a CR50 for my girlfriends kid and needed something to ride along with him .
So I grabbed an old Aero that was sitting for a while in my yard and started getting it trail ready .
I did try looking on craigslist for a 100 - 250 dirt bike but the prices here are insane 4 Grand so
I guess I will have to be happy with an Aero .
I got it running and like all aeros it goes quite fast then stripped off all the plastics that are not needed.
Had the seat re-done $30.00 was going to get a knoby tire $25.00 but thought I would try it out in the dirt first
(the stock tires did suck in the dirt so I guess I need to change to a knoby )
The Aero did hit the frame a few times but all in all it was fun riding the trails .
I also rigged up some removable turn signals if I need to ride on the street .
I stuck a 1/2 front fender from a spree but that will be comming off as it looks stupid and dosen't do anything .

I also stuck a knob on the seat lock / just for looks
and here is the removable signal lights .
Probably use some quick connectors for the wires .

Well I did see the no trespassing sign that was not there in the past and I did have to drive around a few road closed signs .
But after a few hours of rideing ....
Guess who shows up The Henderson Police .
Great ! if I was by myself I would have made a run for it , but I was thinking the kid was just learning and thought it would be a hassel to bail him out if jail .

Love the dirt scoot, looks rad all stripped down like that. Get some knobbys on that bad boy and it will be sweet. :-)

Well I am going to try to get some Camo or colored tires .
I got some before for another project I was working on ...
They are a little squrilee on the street and deffinately slip a bit on wet pavement .
Nothing that can't be handled . Look Out ...

* yeah blue knobbies :-) that will rule. I have knobbies on my spree and they rock on asphalt, no problems at all. As long as you scuff the new off of them carefully for the first bit they should be fine. They do have a rumble feel at low speeds but it goes away above a few mph

Well I sold a Yamaha Razz scoot and bought a dirt bike.
The dirt bike had a bad rear shock & broken kick stand and some other small problems .
I stopped by a bud that has a scoot junk yard and we tried to replace the shock
and I welded the kick stand back on .
After a quick paint job and some wrenching it came out OK but the shock was still messed up .
So I guess I need to re-do the shock again , pain in the *.
