AF05 slightly larger belt?

Is there a belt out there that is a tad longer than the stock AF05 belt? I have installed the Ruckus variator (wheelman) to my AF05, but, as I am trying different roller weights almost daily trying to get higher than 35 MPH, I noticed that the black ring indicating where the belt rides is only a tiny bit larger than the blank ring on the stock variator. There is a TON of room left on the ruckus 97mm face for the belt to ride up.

I HAVE used search, but I have not found exact dimensions of belts, nor the dimensions of a belt that is a bit longer and the correct width.

Greetings:

Hit up RedEftPerformance and see if he can get the Malossi "Special" belt. It is a bit longer and a little wider too.
Often the limiting isn't the belt length but the power available.

PM 'ing now.

This d*** thing is starting to get annoying. Wheelman, I know you have been watching me struggle through this fiasco trying to get my cruising speed beyond 35mph. I am doing VERY good to 35mph WOT, keep thinking my weight (250lbs) is the problem.

Now looking to go CT Manifold, 24mm Carb, Pod Filter, and either V8 or similar exhaust. I wouldnt have believed that it takes that much to cruise at 40 or a tad more.

Greetings:

To the best of my knowledge, there's no longer a V8 for your O5 engine. The LeoVince SP-3 (Kit # 4447) or a vintage Arrow pipe are all there is commercially, or maybe Left Mopeds can hand-craft you a Chamber pipe.

If you want to break through 40 or 45 quickly, ax RedEft about the Malossi 65cc kit for your engine. Should do at least that fast, even with stock (quiet) pipe and gears if you tune well.

I have already installed the Malossi 65cc BBK I purchased from Red. 88 Jet. So what in the world am I doing wrong?

Wheelman,

Red came replied back to my PM and said that he only has the belt for the Elite S, which I have, and I told him that I have a Variated AF05, but he says perhaps the belt is only for the AF16.

Will the AF16 longer belt work? Is this the belt you are talking about?

Greetings:

The Aero and early-engined SA50s use the same belt as the SA50s with AF16 ENGINES. The Special belt makes 'em all work better with the bigger Vario.

That belt is the same for both engines

Try and use a thin long flat head screw driver and bend the tip a little. Stick it in the tail pipe and scrape the screen to get the carbon off. Have the engine running when your doing that. Are you running the stock airbox with the 88 jet?

I am running the stock airbox with the 88 jet.

I could do the draino de-carbonization if you think that would help. Would love an aftermarket exaust, but it is slim pickins and I cant find one anywhere

Make sure the airfilter is clean and the inlet on the outer cover of the airbox isnt clogged. Check to see if you have full throttle. Twist the throttle grip all the way and look inside the carb and make sure the slide is going all the way up.the back of the slide should clear or be even with the outlet yube of the carb.

I will inspect this tonight when I get home from work.

1) What could cause the throttle to not be opening all the way, and if I find this to be the case, what do I do to fix it?

2) Could bad/aged reeds cause a lack of Higher RPM?

I was cruising downhill yesterday and hit 40MPH and the engine did not really seem to be SCREAMMMMMMING the way the same hill had done to my old stock setup (different engine, factory stock SE50). 40mph on that thing and I was worried about engine RPM being way too high and used brakes to decelerate.
