How to break down an engine?

I have an SE50 motor that I want to sell as non running but rebuildable. I have NO idea what condition the inside of the motor is in. I would feel better about selling it if I could break it down and take some pictures. Do I need any special tools to split the cases? Special pullers? thanks

Yeah it cranks over just fine. My friend bought it non running, turns out it had a broken piston. He honed the cylinder and put in a new piston and rings, and tried getting it running. It wouldn't start, but who knows why. I just want to be sure that there aren't any piston chunks hanging out in there, or if a little peice happened to damage the crank
