Chinese Battery ?

The last few years I have been running my two Honda sprees without a battery in them. The only thing I have found is that the turn lights flash slow. It just seems through the years when I would buy a new battery I would be lucky to get a year or two of service out of the battery and the cost of a new battery would be over 50 dollars. I was on E-Bay and just bought a new Chinese battery for 10 dollars plus 8 dollars shipping. $18.00. Has anyone on this forum ever bought one of these cheap Chinese batteries and if so how well have they held up? If they are any good I may order one for my other bike.

For 18$ its worth trying I say. What battery is it, can you post a link. If its the bright size for a spree I'll try one. Does it come with acid or do you have to get that local? Or is it a sealed battery?

I have been purchasing batteries from Advance Auto for 26.99. You have to put the acid in but they make it so easy anyone can do it. Charge for an hour @ 2 amps and your good to go. It also has a warranty.

Yeah I don't live in the U.S. so I have to pay 60$ for new battery for my spree locally. 18$ plus some acid sounds worth a go to me

Just go on E-Bay and search for Honda Spree Battery. I bid on mine for 9.95 plus shipping. You can buy them for around 20 dollars with free shipping.. The battery is in my scooter which fit perfect. Its a sealed and charged battery so you just install it and hit the starter and away you go. Time is going to tell if the battery is any good? If it holds up I will buy another one for my other spree. The only problim I can see is shipping to Nova Scotia from US??

Shipping is usually free if if its direct from China most of the time. Sometimes shipping from the US can be a drag, its hit and miss. Depends on who ships it or who's at the counter that day at the post office. Since the states has a hundred million people where Canada has only 20 or 30 million the prices in the US tend to be so much lower that even with some shipping address come out on top most of the time on stuff from the US

Now that I look at eBay, I see the direct fit lithium battery, sounds tempting , where its 7 ah not 4. I'm going to take the numbers off of some of the sealed batteries and go to my favorite battery supplier local to me where I get my lawn tractor batteries from, and having the numbers to go by I may get a cheaper battery than I had been getting from the bike shops. So you have helped by just getting me looking at eBay :-)

Finding industrial supplier solutions for common stuff for our rides is the way to save money for sure. Like belts, batteries and the like. I found a cool place last week when looking for a part for my tractor and they can match just about any belt, bearing or seal. Handy place to know.

If you can get 3 1/2 years out of a battery that is the one to get. Like I said time will tell with the Chinese battery? This was the reason I was asking, hoping someone bought one to see what they got for service out of a Chinese battery?

One thing for sure I won't get rit of it. I don't like to part with my money that well. What I will do if these batterys are any good is buy one for my other Spree. I have two Honda spree riders and one parts bike.

I just bought one two weeks ago for my SR50 off ebay from a place called chromebattery. $23 shipped. Here is a link.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290771561404?ss ... 1497.l2649

Obviously I can't comment on longevity after two weeks but for the price I'm pretty happy so far.

edit: Forgot to mention the seller is in Indiana so shipping was super fast.

That is about how long I have had my Chinese battery so I guess we will find out in time.

Never run your scoot wthout a battery as you need to complete the circut or fry the stator.

I have been running on luck because I have been running two sprees without a battery for years. I have often wondered if it could do damage?
