I am starting a new Uber-Spree build and I have a couple options that I am looking for advice on.
Most basic is which engine to use.
I have at my disposal 3 excellent 2 stroke 50cc engines.
A Kymco ZX50 engine.
A Honda Elite SR engine.
Or a chinese Minarelli clone engine, one of the better makes (Eton) and with a large diameter wheel.
The ZX50 and the Elite engine are very similar with a few exceptions. The ZX has a bigger wheel/longer case BUT I haven;t found an upgear option. It also had a better variator and higher stock top speed. The Elite is a little quicker off the line, but that might just because the bike is so much lighter.
The Minarelli engine also has a bigger wheel and the pipe comes out the bottom which might make things easier.
I would rather not tear up more than one bike. So if I am for example taking the Elite engine I don;t want to robble the front end off of the ZX.
I already have a Spree/ZX build going (Project Dio-Ree-1) So I am kind of leaning towards the Minarelli engine.
The other thing I have been considering is not doing a Spree build at all but starting with a NA50 (Honda Express II). Those are very tough frames and probably weigh about the same as a Spree frame give or take.
Opinions?
