Getting an Aero50 in shape!

So,
I was at my cousins house when I saw something interesting behind the house in a garbage pill. Walked to it and got out with an Aero50 in hand. Asked her about it it and then she said: ''My ex-boyfriend got it for the kids to play in the backyard... They started it last summer but it stayed behind the house all winter long...''
It means it was under snow for a couple of months! But the kickstart's still working!!
Since I started a ''small engine mecanic'' class april 10th, I decided to bring this beauty to life!! I'll bring it back home today or tomorrow and start looking at it! Here it is...

Image

There's a lil BMW battery on the footboard... Someone couldn't find one that fitted and actually do some s*** to make it ''fit''... Also, the seat cover isn't in great shape, I'll have to buy a new one!

Image

The speedometer still look good!!

Image

The rear lights (brake and flasher) are there only need a little clean up.

Image

This side miss a plastic panel. I may have to buy one on Ebay... And you can see a hole on the front panel where the flasher is supposed to be... Anothere thing I may have to get from Ebay...

Image

The front Fender's cracked but nothing I can't fix!

Image

The tires are softher than baby skin so I'll have to replace them as well.

PS. Sorry if my english isn't that good I'm a french canadian girl. I'll do my best for you to understand me

Congrats!
Keep the progress reports coming!

IF during your parts search you come across another speedo like yours (my US one stops at 35...) ... I'm looking!

I started my project today.

Image

Seems that the last mechanical inspection have been made on August '93...
Image

The kickstarter is a bit rusty but it works well!
Image
Image

No cork on gaz tank... Gotta buy one.
Image

My Aero need tire! There must be rust under them tho...
Image
Image

Don't know what I'll do with the exhaust.
Image

I was removing the bolt on the footboard when suddenly...
Image

There was a spider with spiderweb on the engine.
Image

Remember what I said about the battery?!
Image
Image
Image

The speedometer is in km/h since we (in Quebec) use km.

Greetings:

According to Entomology Today, 86.3% of all the world's spiders live under Aero shrouds. You MUST file a certificate with the EPA before removing one. :)

Sheesh, has MouseWheels been fixing your electrics? I rather think NOT!

Looks like a challenge to restore. I look forward to the results. That pipe looks pretty far-gone. Consider the LeoVince if you can fund it. Great pipe for the AF05. Pretty much the ONLY pipe for the AF05...

Greetings:

Pauly, if you know of a Secret Kiwi Alternative, do tell. Lots of Aero and early Elitists would like not to abandon hope of real performance.
