I have seen the wikispreedia and wheelman post on drilling out the pilot jet on the stock elite/spree carbs, but nobody has ever posted their results, or I just cant find them.
My current setup is
49mm nikasil bbk
9:1 gears
95 main, slide needle to the lowest position
stock airbox with holes in it
keli variator
7 gram rollers
pretty slow from about 0-5 mph but rips after that
On the way
v8 exhaust
unifilter
vapor gauge (mostly for cht)
If I see off throttle heat spikes I am considering drilling out the pilot but want to here from a couple people who have had good luck with it?
Thanks
Anyone successfully drill out pilot jet? Results?

get some higher rpm clutch springs that will help alot with the 0-5mph problem. As for the carb im not sure you could just upgrade to a ct intake and 21mm oko

Pauly is right it would be a better way to go, then you can jet the pilot anyway you wantpaulpauly7 wrote:get some higher rpm clutch springs that will help alot with the 0-5mph problem. As for the carb im not sure you could just upgrade to a ct intake and 21mm oko

I have driled out a main jet for that carb and works great. never heard of anyone driling out the pilot though might be kinda hard just don't go to big! I would recomend the ct intake with aftermarket carb. good luck

Re: Anyone successfully drill out pilot jet? Results?
The guy featured in the 'wiki (kylebo) reported success having drilled with a 0.5mm bit. It was too rich with that size drill. After crimping the pilot to reduce the flow he reported having success.
There's no number for what his final pilot was. Best is to start smaller. BTW for reference original pilot is close to a #80 drill (0.0135(in) 0.343(mm))
Here's a link to Kylebo's outcome - http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... =1&t=18974
-- Pilot jet sizing by optical comparison --
Pic shows a side by side comparison of 0.015 music wire vs Spree pilot jet.
In the middle of pic, a portion of the music wire pic has been cut/pasted to compare with the pilot orifice. It's darn close, but the music wire would not pass through the pilot.

Re: Anyone successfully drill out pilot jet? Results?
My plan is to increase the pick up tube by 10% and then the pilot (hole in the casting) by 10%. Basically coping what wheelman did here

I just got my trailtech vapor gauge installed and I am seeing off throttle heat spikes...I figure if I mess it up real bad I can just go with an aftermarket carb.

Re: Anyone successfully drill out pilot jet? Results?
Are you talking about the center spring or the shoe grabber springs? I have a 1500 rpm center spring that I got with the bike would installing this help at all? I am a heavier guy 230lbs. I also got some grabber springs but I have no idea what rpm they will engage atpaulpauly7 wrote:get some higher rpm clutch springs that will help alot with the 0-5mph problem. As for the carb im not sure you could just upgrade to a ct intake and 21mm oko
If I stand up give the scooter throttle and let it start moving and sit back down once it gets moving it accelerates fine. I am new to these scooters I understand what the clutch grabber springs do but... not sure about the center springs a stiffer spring keeps it in low gear longer? What is the stock spring? sorry for the noob questions
Thanks
