Anyone recognize this noise as abnormal?

Not sure if I should be concerned.

I can't hear what you are talking about. Sounds ok to me.

I hear something, like a strange vibration. It does sound funky to my trained sound tech ears, I'll have to listen later after my gig to really hear it. It certainly does have something going on. Have you made any changes to the scooter lately?

Well it won't start now. Turns over like there is ok compression. I had to take the head off, ground the top of the piston with a dremmel to get rid of the black gunk. Then I reinstalled the head and it turned on but was less powerful

you may have worn rings and the carbon build up was keeping compression up enough to run .Now you have cleaned it it doesnt have enough compression to fire

Yea, just checked compression and it was a whopping 60 PSI :S

The rings did look a little worn although I wasn't even through my break in period.

Did you dremel the piston with it still on the scooter? Was the piston still in the cylinder when you dremeled it? Did you pull the rings off of the piston and wash it in the sink after? I wonder if the rings got jammed up. How does the cylinder and piston look now.

I dremmeled with the piston on and he cylinder off. You may very well be right. I scuffed the edge of the piston a little bit but was able to clean it up with 1000 sandpaper. I will pull it apart and look.

The other thing I did was I used new bolts with teflon wrap on them so they would tighten easier. They all caught and felt plenty tight but I didn't want to push it because I snapped the bolt previously.

Funny thing though, the new bolts which I bought from a guy on her had threads that were about an 8th inch longer on the threads than the ones that I had. Curious...

Not sure why.

Will provide an update once I pull it apart. right now I am working hard on getting my WRX back in business. Doing a lot of changes.
