Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I know people are probably going to make fun of me for asking this but, What is a dio? Where can i get one? and how much do they cost?

I have a decent understanding of engines both small and large and i would like to improve my sprees speed. I have heard the only way to make a worthwhile improvement is to install a Dio.

A "dio" is refering to either a af16e or af18e engines, the af16E is the us model the af18e is the JDM version
Main differences between the 2 are timing and crank size's
The US dio only has one crank size, the JDM version has a large and a small, the large is equal to the US version.
The JDm version can run a rotor kit, the US cannot with out some modification to where the pick up is.
Cost wise, I'd say 200 or so for a US is around normal , the JDM version's can go for 350+ -really depends on what people want to pay for them - I just sold one JDM for $400 ,only reason the price was so high iss the gut made me an offer I could not refuse, but I was selling them for just over $300
Get one from a motorcycle junk yard? you can do a lot,stroker,ministroke ,stock stroke all can be made very fast
I know 1 spree with polini corsa,mild porting,and stock crank hitting in the 70's mph.
