85 aero ruckus variator install

Post by Kevinstonge »

I just wanted to post a couple of pics on what needed to be shaved from the case in order for a ruckus variator to fit nicely. Really the only shaving necessary was on the starter bendix cover, but I took a little material off of the actual case as well for extra piece of mind.

Wow, I did not know it would fit on there. Did you have to use the aero drive boss? Good work

Thanks guys. Yup, aero drive boss. The ruck boss has a larger inside diameter and is loose on the crankshaft.

Greetings:

Agreed on the skillful workmanship. I'd forgotten how different that part of the '85 case is compared to the '86-'87 and SE50. Installation into those blocks requires less shaving.

Thanks wheelman. Do you know what exactly needs to be shaven on the 86-87 and se50 case?

Greetings:

Same area, really. It's just not so much of it. ScooterWerx once posted he bolted his right on his 1986(?) without shaving at all. I had to do a little on my '86 and '87, but it didn't look nearly as clean as yours.
