Hi guys,

I'm looking for higher top speed on my scooter. I hit 30 mph on flat road and 35 mph down the hills ,and I would like to hit about 40 mph. I have an Elite SR which is the derestricted version I believe. Is there anything I can do to get faster without replacing the bore kit nor spending much money? I thought a derestrected version would hit 35-40 mph, but mine doesn't.

Thanks for your help.

Judging from your top speed of about 30 mph, I'm assuming you're going to need new rollers. I'd definitely suggest an upgraded variator and ramp plate. Forum member graphite9 has polini variators and he is a great seller as stated above. 9 to 1 gears work great and might also want to think about adding some 90/90-10 tires on the front and rear to get you crusing around 50 mph.

thank you guys for your responses. i'm gonna replace my weights rollers then. I'm still using the stock ones. Do you know how many miles it takes before they get too used? My scooter is 2000 miles.

Greetings:

Depends on how much of a perfectionist you are, but 2000 miles must have some pretty big flat spots. Rounding off the sharp edges of the ramp plate seems to help, but I've seen slight wear in 500 miles despite that.

8.5's were in my 94. don't understand why they don't put the weight of rollers in the repair manuals.

I'd like to share my experience. I replaced my stock rollers with new Malossi ones which weight the same. The stock ones had nice flat spots XD. Now, I can hit 35mph all the time, and 40pmh down the hills. This means dammaged rollers declined my performance of 5mph. Also, it seems I got better gas mileage with the new ones, like 10 more miles per tank. Can anyone confirm dammaged rollers affect gas mileage?
