On a small motorcycle/scooter, 30k miles. Larger MC, 100k.

I would say that about 5000 is pretty much top end rebuild time. I have heard stories of people getting 10-15000 out of the Zumas

I'm not saying without a rebuild.

10k, max, on a little bike, without a rebuild. 30k before the thing gets really old, and you should just get rid of it.

I still have 76,980 mi. on my elite-s with 2 bore kits & one crank, don't ride it much unless i have to, my other scoot replaced it and for $5 bucks im good for 2 weeks or 160 mi. at 55mph max.

considering that the service manual goes up to 7500, I'm guessing you can get at least that much out of it, if not a little more before a rebuild, and than that much again. Depending on how much servicing of various parts you're willing to do, she should theoretically run on a certain number of engine rebuilds until the frame and/or body falls apart, but even then you can buy replacement parts if you're in love with the thing.

Milage depends on care with these. I've seen them dead with less than 1000.
New rings every 3K-4K miles, good oil, should get a ton of miles from these.

I've heard that the big bore kits only last for something like 100hrs...is there any truth to this? Thanks

no matt put way over that! a good maintained kit will last just as long if not longer then a stock bore, my aero engine with a 65cc kit on it has over 200 hours on it if not more and its barley broken in

Well, 100 hrs = 3000 miles at 30 MPH? Sounds about right. You'd want to take a serious look at the rings at 3000 miles. Maddog (or others with high-milage scoots?)
That doesn't mean you need a new kit, just rings... assuming you can get them and they're less expensive than the kit.
