Hey guys,
Me and my dad just finished rebuilding the engine on my spree. We got a new piston re honed the cylinder and got all new gaskets. We dont have the gasket for the muffler but we have one ordered but we still can't get the thing to fire after a few kicks. Is there anything that needs to be done to get it to fire or is it because of the missing gasket. any help would be nice

If you pulled the carb, you may have to keep kicking, to get fuel in. Everytime I mess around with my carb (pop the float bowl off), I have to kick over and over and over to get fuel back in. Or you can apply vacuum to the vacuum line, but I prefer just kicking it over and over. I did the opposite on my snowmobile today- shut the fuel valve off and ran the carbs (34mm carbs, 2, for comparison to a scooter carb

) dry, so if my gas goes bad in the remainder of summer, until snow flies, my carbs don't get gummed up. In short, it's a pain to get them off.
Anyway, make sure you are getting fuel and spark (ground the spark plug while it's out of the cylinder, and watch for spark). Try spraying some starting fluid, spray carb cleaner, etc. (not very much) or a little gas in the carb, with the slide all the way open, and see if it fires up briefly. Then you know it will run; it just has issues getting fuel.

It is getting fuel, it has plenty of spark, and the compression is around 120-130. We were missing the gasket for the muffler though and will recieve it tomorrow. could not having the gasket cause it to not have enough back pressure or anything that it wouldnt start? any other suggestions would be appreciated
