Hi forum need some jet suggestions I'm running 72cc malossi mhr malossi crank on a AF16e 8:4 gears pg long 28mm oko

Pilot 152 main 142 nice and clean in the beginning sputtering at top end

Pilot 152 main 140 running good but seems lacking top end (no bogg just sluggish)maybe too heavy weight?
Does pilot 152 main 140 sound like I'm in the right area??

Greetings:

The main may be a bit small. Do not dismiss the contribution a big pilot adds to the mix, even at WOT. how far is the air screw turned out? If you have no temp gauge, I recommend one. Otherwise the spark plug can give a clue, but sometimes too late.

Thanks wheelman when I had the 42main on it was sputtering on top end with clip in middle bottum and top..however I forgot to adjust the air screw darnit 1 1/2 turns out right? And yes I have a temp gauge... 40main no sputtering on top end but then again didn't adjust the air screw.. Gunna go back and adjust my air screw with the 42main and go from there.. As far as the 152 pilot i was told to leave it should I go bigger? ..

Greetings:

Methinks you have your jet nomenclature reversed. Mains are usually hundreds, like 142, 150. It's the Pilots that are 2-digit like 42, 44, or 50. If you have a temp gauge, we're all atwitter to know what it reads. Therein lies the most direct clue to rich or lean. You're looking for a peak at 400, never more.

Thanx wheelman Yes I got it mixed up haha
So today I went out I put back the 142main left the 52 pilot in adjusted my air screw 1 1/2 turns out clip all the way down..no bogging sputtering at all on bottom mid top end.temperature went up to 200-300(westach temp gauge)at wot up hill holding it for 5 seconds didn't want to hold it too long.. also checked my spark plug and it was dry no oil at all my premix is 32:1 ..

Greetings:

There's a world of difference between 200 and 300. It's not what the temp reads after 5 seconds, but the endpoint temperature at which the top end stabilizes - indefinitely - with the throttle held open. If it looks like it wants to keep climbing past 400, let off and put in a bigger main. If it won't get above 300, you need a smaller one. The spark plug check isn't about wetness or lack thereof, but the insulator Color. Black is rich, white is lean, "Cardboard" is perfect.

The air screw isn't a fixed pre-set at 1.5 turns out, but an adjustment you perform. You listen or watch the tach for best idle speed as you adjust. Note the number of turns NEEDED to achieve this best idle speed. If you keep turning out past 2.5 turns and the idle just gets higher, the pilot is too big. If it's less than 1 turn out before it starts to slow down, the Pilot is too small.

Thank you again wheelman for your teachings and knowledge need to put in a order for a tach
