Hi i have a honda dio af35 1994 model. it has a horizontal engine. I think its JDM. It has a disk brake and its a combined braking system. I recently upgraded to a sports exhaust, variators and clutch and my max will only 48km/hr im not sure whats limiting it. its like it hasnt changed from stock even tho i put on performance parts of it. im not sure if its the CDI because i dont have a tach to check it.

yes! the sports exhaust is more free flowing. did it not come with a jet? if not you will need to get a jetting kit for your carb.

you will need to get another unrestricted cdi unit .If you are gkod with wiring then rewire a us elite cdi unit to it or contact RedEftPerformance for a malossi cdi to plug in these are not cheap but well worth the effort

Your top speed suggests that you're running on a restricted CDI, hence the limited top speed...

You really do need to get an unrestricted CDI... Also, when changing the stock exhaust to a free-er flowing one, you really should re-jet your carb...

a friendly reminder: Also part of the tuning process:
did you tune your variator after you installed the newer exhaust? change roller weights?
what about clutch springs? clutch torque or center spring, and/or clutch springs; upgraded?

yeah i havent rejetted yet, my main jet right now is at 75. i havent done a plug chop yet to see if im running rich/lean. when i had everything stock it was doing the same thing. onnly goes 48km/h (30mph). and when i changed to a perf variator and clutch it was still the same mybe little less, like 42km/h. i tried with different weights for the rollers from 4.5 -7g the lighter ones gave me a good accel but will stay only at 42km/h, when i got to around 6.5 and 7 it had terrible lauch and got me to 48km/h. i stayed with the stock clutch. cuz the perf one i bought had has 1500rpm torque springs. not sure about the clutch spring.

a search through the forums confirm that your particular CDI is restricted...

A CDI from Malossi, Chameleon Factory, Posh, or Daytona would be best. Prices vary.

IMO replace the CDI first, and then (and only then) start tuning the rest of the components afterwards;
can't go any faster with that restricted CDI

yeah i think the CDI is restricted, however seeing my cdi is different from my friends af34, mine is a big box with 5pin connectors and he has the big box with 4+2pin connector. also i used some CDI that has the same 5pin connection, i took it from an honda dio sr and an af18 scooter. both of them plugged in fine but it wouldnt start, even with kick start. i bought this CDI from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Race-CDI-Box-Ig ... 3d&vxp=mtr to see if this one works, if it does ill upgrade to a better one from ebay. i dont wanna spend 70+$ on something that might not be the problem. it could be that its other thing is restricting my scooter.
