I have a elite with a stock running setup..........

I also have a corsa with a bran new 26mm carb (3 hours of drive time on the carb) and it died the other day....... I was/am very puzzled as to why this quit running. It died while I was driving I kinda figured the plug was fowled cause i run it a lil rich and the plug was older but nope. The bore is still cross hatched and and the compression was strong. I did not verify it with a tester im sure that is what im going to b told but i dont think that is the issue. My reeds are way old though but there was not a gap in them does that mean they work? i have fuel spark and compression.......it also did sound like it wanted to start could this b my reeds? im kinda broke and wana make sure it could b my reeds before i buy them.

You can run it with out reeds. Might have clogged a jet.

no way, with out reeds. really???!!! i dont think so, they play an important part. but i have never tried it.

i did check the jets and blew them out and tried again before dissambelly.

check the reeds .I had a aero motor with carbon reeds 2petal and one broke off it still ran but not very good and was a major pain in the butt to start

It can run with out the reed, at higher rpms they don't close but for milliseconds, boyesen claims 133 times per second. But check them for sure as they will screw with start up and slow engine speeds.
Sounds like you have a fun issue to sort out.
