Stock spree needs a little help

Is there anything I can do to an 86 stock spree to get at least close to 40mph without tearing into the engine? Maybe changing the following, or a combo of exhaust, intake, carb jets, gear ratios, de-restricting etc.?

Changing the gears means tearing into the motor. ;-) Pauly is right take off will be awful. If you want a good pipe for your spree the mlm pipe is it but expect to pay $200. Speed costs money ;-)

The short answer is no.
Don't spend any money , just enjoy it the way it is.
No matter what you do to the insides of that engine, boring, stroking, porting, piping and carburetors, you will eventually arrive at the conclusion that the engine does not have a variator, essentially what that means is the transmission is only a one speed.
Swapping in an engine with a variator will give you a CVT or continuously variable transmission.
You could swap in a variated 50cc engine then build it up or you could swap in an 80cc engine and build it up, or you could swap in a 125cc engine, or just buy a scooter with a 125 engine.
I started with Sprees sold them all and bought a Honda Aero 125, it is the largest two stroke scooter Honda ever made.
Don't get me wrong, I still love those Sprees, but sooner or later you get tired of only driving 30mph.
Now after two years, I am tired of only driving 60 mph on that Aero.

Johnniespeed is right. But it is a lot of fun to try to make a spree faster though. If you want to play around I say go for it. If you want a faster daily driver a variated scooter might be the better move. I had a big bore kit on my spree with the carb and pipe and it went 45 just about but it was a little expensive and I got my pipe for free. I loved it t it was a lot of fun even with no variator. It all depends how you want to spend your time and money and how much of it.

Lots of speed tricks for the elite ;-) go to scooter swap shop and start dreaming and drooling over all of the go fast goodies. ;-)

yeah, the elite already has, a variator , and belt upgrade, and goes about 40 mph, I am considering a big bore kit, and upgraded exhaust, and maybe upgraded carb and intake later.

If going over 40 is your goal, better add gears to that list.

otherwise all those upgrades will only get you to 40 mph quicker. :thumbwink:
