front end wobbles and knocks on 84 Spree

The front end is shaking and knocking really bad on take off but it smooths out really quick after I get going over 5-8 miles an hour then it runs and steers great. It only does it on take off. I looked at the front end and everything seems to be tight. What do you think would cause this? Thanks

As I mentioned in the other thread If it were me I'd pull the front axle and pull the wheel off aand have a good look at the condition of the brakes, bearings and the the like, it won't take too much work. And I would do it asap. It would be terrible to have the front wheel lock up on you. I'm sure the rest of the members will be able to offer some more ideas as well.

Turns out it was the clutch and/or the drive belt. I had an extra one of each so I swapped them out and that fixed it. Thanks Pat.

Great glad you found the issue
you can cure the shudder on the old clutch with 220 grit sand paper by scuffing the glaze from the clutch friction material.
