BBK or Stroker break in how to.

Post by scootfast »

What is the correct way to break in a BBK or stroker motor? What are the correct heat cycles and what are they exactually. And what is the fuel needed and ratio for a 114 stroker air cooled?

Hi jim. 114cc  :2thumbs: Sweet.
there is a many way to break in the big bore. I have an idea but I don't know the correct procedure.
you start off with a lots of heat cycles. bring it up the temperature let it cool off.

after so many heat cycles, I like to do at least 5
you take it for a one mile ride let it cool off completely.
then go for a 2 mile ride let it cool off completely.
go for a 3 mile ride shut it off let it cool off completely.
you should do this for at least a couple gas tanks.

you should be ok with 32to1. - 4 ounces oil to 1gal.
after break in Go to 3.6 ounces to 1 gallon.

there are so many ways to break them in this is one example of how I do it. :thumbwink:

I did 10 heat cycles then rode it but never really pushed it passed half throttle for the first tank. but I was fortunate that I worked 7 miles from home so I could get through that first tank pretty fast.

1.Build it.
2.Start it. If it starts great, if not go back to step one..
3. Go for a short ride varying throttle positions to make sure nothing breaks. If nothing breaks go to step 4.
4. Increase throttle movement toward WOT to check for carb tuning errors. If you have no pits or valleys, go to 5.
5. Increase frequency of WOT runs, not keeping the throttle at WOT for long at all. Be sporadic with the throttle checking for carb tuning errors.

If your carb is smooth in transitioning all the way from pilot to main you're good. All you have to do is listen to how smooth its running and accelerating. if something is wrong you'll hear it. I have never spent much time breaking in any motor. If something is wrong, generally you'll find out sooner than later. Just don't do any long WOT runs. In general, I don't like to use WOT very much. Only if I'm really trying to impress all the hot chicks around that dig scooter riding dudes. jk, of course. We know they don't really exist.
