Laser CNC kicker cover shim **IDEA**

Gents,

IÔÇÖm wondering if anyone would be interested in me getting some CNC kicker shims created for the use of the ZX trans setup. This would be used to properly shim out the kicker case 1mm out to run the ZX boss correctly. With not impacting or binding the kicker components.

Just want to get a feel if anyone is or has interest in this.

I just used 1mm washers on the inside .A nice machined shim would be nice tho .

I'm not understanding this. The Dio ZX drive boss uses the same kicker cover and engine case as non-ZX Dios. Shouldn't even be an issue.

Can you show the shim or stock part that is contributing to said problem? Probably easier to just order the Dio ZX specific part if that would solve things.

We're running af16 kickers, not af18. If we were running 18 kickers it'd clear.

Greetings:

Flash had the mm washers Super-glued to the crankcase. If I had taken time to do it correctly, cleaning with acetone and all, it would work even better.. as it is, occasionally I have to re-glue one if I pull the cover. I like to think air flowing through the gaps keep the belt a bit cooler.

Hmmm. I was under the impression the kicker covers were the same. Have you tested swapped an af16 and af18 cover on the same case?

I think I read somewhere on here that the mushroom gear is different size on the Dio zx, probably shorter?
Then 1m8s says the Kymco zx drive face solves this issue and he didn't need to shim out the cover.

Greetings:

The Kymco outer pulley has a shorter castle, so the cover may not need shimming, but I run without a gasket. I have never removed my shim washers to see if there would be contact without them...

The Kymco drive face doesn't have the lip or shoulder on the inside towards the belt. I have 7 af16 and sc10as in service on frames right now so it's hard to remember which has what and to articulate what was necessar, but it's too easy to do it as wheelman described and you can be worry free.
Sanjuro, unfortunately I don't have an af18 kicker cover to try it out. I was told they were different by a few haiwaiins, but in my earlier days I had several complete af18s and never noticed a difference but I also was not looking for differences and merely kept them af16 to af16 and af18 to af18.

Sanjuro showed me they're different part numbers. The kicker covers that is.

Hi forum.
When I installed my ruima crank it was longer than stock. The kicker crown Gear would not reach drive face.
I had to shave off the tip of the crank for the crown gear to seat.
I used a Hand grinder and VERY gently grinded the crank end a few mm. Use caution you may bend your crank
The kicker crown gear fit perfectly. Did not need to shim the starter.
